So in the next week or two, I'll be $250 richer. Now I could pretty much buy the $300 Epi hummingbird from my last post. Or...I could save it and put it towards my...Mac...fund. Yes, I want a Mac. Badly. My current laptop is infected with...something bad. Lots of BSODs....And the more I think about it, the more I realize that Macs are essentially designed to do all the cool things I really want to do, but can't really with my PC. Like making videos (video blogging, my guitar covers, video conferencing etc.), and running really cool high end film editing and music production software.
My PC is great for gaming, but...I'm sort of done with that. I mean, I'll always like video games, but they're not really important anymore. I've been on vacation for about a month, and I don't think I've played Unreal Tournament a single time. This is the same game that I would stay up all night playing on many occasions. At one point, I was so good that I was being recruited by gaming clans. I've just been more into music and filmmaking...
I think a MacBook costs about a g, so I guess that's sort of my goal for the summer. I think it's attainable..
If there's anywhere to buy cheaper, legit Macs, let me know.
Peace
a few updates...
1. I'm glad to be home on vacation! I never realize how hectic Lville life is, until I'm away from it for a bit. Can't believe I'm gonna be a senior next year. As cliche as it sounds, it really seems like just yesterday I was a 13 year old freshman who didn't know squat. Not to say, I know everything now, but I'm definitely a lot smarter. And not just "book smarts" smarter...
2. I'm still playing guitar. It's reassuring that at this point, I can notice an improvement. Chords aren't so scary, power chords are fairly easy now. I'm adding more songs to my repertoire, so the next time someone sees me playing and asks "What can you play?", I can reply with more than just nerd rock and Lupe.
3. Due to the fact that my current "guitar" is whack in about 300 ways, I've been searching for guitars that I might want to purchase. I found it. A black (or ebony, as it's officially called, i think) Epiphone Hummingbird. Epiphone is a solid guitar company owned by a bigger company, Gibson, the Nike of the guitar world. The hummingbird is musical pifff. it is built great (mahogany and spruce, quality wood), it sounds great, and it looks great (in black). Here is a picture.
4. I'm still jobless. Contrary to what some people think, I have actually been looking. Though I can afford the guitar now, I still want to work. And I have faith that I will, this summer.
5. I have found my future bride. Her name is Kina.Looks like I have a soft spot for beautiful musicians that video blog on Youtube. Funnily enough, one of my first blogs was also about my "future bride". Also a beautiful musician. Hmm...
That's about it for now. If anyone besides Chip reads this, feel free to comment.
Peace
6:20 am - Got up to do work.
6:22 am - Convinced myself that I could sleep another 30 minutes then do work get by without doing the work for today. Went back to sleep.
7:40 am - Finished morning routine, gathered books, and went downstairs for a bagel.
7:43 am - Ate bagel and watched Sports Center in the common room with the rest of the guys.
7:50 am - Left for English class.
8:00 am - 2:05 pm - Attended classes. And lunch at 12:30.
2:10 pm - My academic day is over. This was my free period, so I facebooked, and practiced guitar. And read about this local kid getting burned in one of his classes..
3:15 pm - Got ready for House Soccer practice.
3:35 pm - Left for House Soccer field. Waited 20 mins. for the rest of my team to show up for this 3:40 game...
4:40 pm - Lost game 2-0. We played a really good game though. I was on defense, and had several good clears. Also stopped a goal with my face....Yeah...
4:50 pm - Rushed back to dorm so I could get the first shower.
4:54 pm - Got the first shower.
5:30 pm - Gathered friends for dinner. Decided to ditch dining hall (meat loaf) and head to TJ's, the local pizza spot (cheesesteak).
5:45 pm - Ate dinner and chilled with friends on TJ's outdoor patio. Looked out for the townies that called us mean things and flipped us off last time we were there.
6:40 pm - Went back to dorm and chilled in friend's room.
7:20 pm - Came back to room to work.
7:24 pm - Started this VOX blog.
So that was my day so far. This is how I think the rest of my day will go.
8:15 pm - 10:30 pm - Do work interspersed with compulsive facebook/myspace/e-mail checking.
10:45 pm - I'll probably be hungry again, so I'll go downstairs for something to eat. Then I'll go back to my room to watch Gone Baby Gone a second time. (Thanks, Chip)
1:00 am - Go to sleep. I have a double sleep-in tomorrow, meaning I don't have class until after school meeting, which starts at 9:45.
And that's a day in the life of a typical Lawrentian.
Ok..i haven't posted anything in months, and i actually miss posting blogs (even though my posts are read by like two people...)
So, I'm going to try to post more regularly. But for now, a few updates...
1. I'm taking some intense classed this term. The most intense (academically and emotionally) of which are Ethics (a religion course) and Race (a science course). Both of these courses are really great, and are taught my well qualified teachers. I'm excited to learn what they have to teach.
2. I am writing a 12-14 page term paper for US History this term. We were allowed to choose any topic pertaining to something we studied in the course so far. I am choosing to write about the impact that the Harlem Renaissance had on film. I am super excited to write this paper. One of the perks of going to my school, is we have a ridiculous library collection. Plus if I need a book that we don't have, they can buy it or borrow it from the local colleges (namely Princeton and Rider). One cool part of the library that I found, has every New York Times film review from like the 20s to the early 2000s, which is great for my paper.
3. I recently started playing my guitar again. In case you didn't know the guitar is REALLY hard to play. Well, it is for me anyway. So far, I can successfully play the bass lines to Superstar by Lupe Fiasco, Say It Ain't So by Weezer, Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes, and Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz. I can also play the main piano line of Trouble by Coldplay. It is a lot of fun, but I'm still learning basic chords and stuff. I hope to stick with it long enough to actually get good.
Ok, that's it for now. I'm swamped with work and my recently purchased $83 Ethics textbook, Ethics for Life, is calling me.
Peace
P.S. I included some songs that I've been playing a lot lately.
so im finally back home in trenton...
no tests, no papers, no bball practice...
just chillin...
So there's this postal..mailbox..type thing outside my house, and it's been there as long as i can remember. When I arrived home yesterday, I stepped out the car and noticed that this mailbox had been freshly tagged. It read "NBS" in white paint. It probably has something to do with Nietas that have been beefing with Latin Kings in my neighborhood lately.
I haven't even been home 24 hours, and I've already seen a fight too..
man, I've missed home...
yes...i'm breathing...
i'm also fighting through finals week
can't talk...two final papers due tomorrow..
friday i can go home for thanksgiving break though...
soon....
almost there...
.
